A Mandorla, é uma forma oval que encerra uma figura importante. A palavra Mandorla, italiano para amêndoa, refere-se a esta semente pela forma oval similar. Em latim, a mandorla é chamada de vesica piscis - bexiga de peixe - outra forma oval. O uso mais antigo da mandorla data do século V. Nesta imagem em particular, " Cristo em Majestade" ou "Majestas Domini", Cristo faz o gesto de benção e declara " ego sum lux mundi" = "EU sou a luz do mundo" Jesus é retratado em ambos os domínios, humano e divino, mostrado pelo seu pé, pelo gesto da mão e pelo halo que se extendem para fora da mandorla, que geralmente inclui os quatros animais, símbolo dos Evangelistas. The Mandorla is an oval frame enclosing an important figure. Mandorla, italian for almond, refers to the seed or womb, a similar shape, as well as the oval frame itself. In Latin, the mandorla is called the vesica pescis - fish bladder, another oval shape. The earliest Christian use of the mandorla is dated to around from the 5th century. In this particular "Christ in Majesty", or Majestas Domini, Iesous makes a gesture of blessing and declares "ego sum lux mundi", or "I am the light of the world" Jesus is portrayed in both realms of humanity and divinity, exhibited by his feet, gesturing hand, and halo that are extending out of the mandorla. The mandorla includes the four animals symbols of the Evangelists.

La mandorla è una cornice ovale che racchiude una figura importante. Mandorla, in italiano, si riferisce al seme o al grembo, una forma così simile, così come l'ovale stesso. In latino, la mandorla è chiamata vesica pescis – vescica di pesce, altra forma ovale. L'uso della mandorla nel primo cristianesimo si data intorno al V secolo d.C.. In questo particolare "Cristo in Maiestas", o "Maiestas Domini", Gesù fa il gesto della benedizione e dichiara "Ego sum lux mundi", ovvero "Sono la luce del mondo". Gesù è raffigurato in entrambe le sue nature di umanità e divinità, esibite tramite i suoi piedi, la gestualità, e il nimbo che sono estesi fuori dalla mandorla.
